Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CELPIP Test?
The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a general English language proficiency test. The CELPIP Test allows test takers to demonstrate their ability to function in English. The test clearly, accurately, and precisely assesses a test taker’s English abilities in a variety of everyday situations, such as communicating with co-workers and superiors in the workplace, interacting with friends, understanding newscasts, and interpreting and responding to written materials.
Is CELPIP harder than IELTS?
All the language proficiency tests measure English language skills and have different scoring, coverage, duration, and test purposes. Some consider the IELTS more complicated to get a higher score compared to other language proficiency tests available in the market. The IELTS has two versions that cater to the different needs and purposes of its test-takers. The IELTS Test is highly accepted by thousands of educational institutions worldwide. It is also one of the requirements for migration and other career-related requirements, especially for international employers. In Canada, one of the accepted language proficiency is the CELPIP. It is generally the preferred language assessment test for any individuals who wish to migrate or work in Canada. The test is not complicated compared to the IELTS. It is also shorter when it comes to testing durations. This is why most students prefer the CELPIP because it is accessible, affordable, and does not take much of your time while giving you standardized and accurate test results.
How and When do I get my CELPIP score?
You can access your CELPIP Test scores online through your CELPIP Account in 4-5 business days after your test date. You will receive an email notification once your scores are available. The Academic IELTS examination is recognized as an entrance requirement by British, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand universities as well as for secondary, vocational and training programmes worldwide. This examination allows you to achieve an international qualification in academic English, as well as giving you proof of your English abilities for employers and visa purposes.
There are two types of IELTS exams: Academic and General Training. Both exams assess your English language skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
All test takers take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests.

The IELTS General test is designed for individuals seeking admission to programs below degree level, such as English-speaking schools or colleges. It is also applicable for work or vocational training.
Additionally, IELTS General Training is necessary for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. The exam assesses everyday English language skills essential for social interactions and workplace settings.
IELTS Academic
The IELTS Academic test is designed for individuals aiming to further their education in an English-speaking academic environment. It evaluates your readiness to study in English by incorporating vocabulary and language structures commonly found in higher education.
